This attractive ring is full of delightful details including trinity knots carved into the Celtic cross on top of the ring. A gemstone is bezel set in the center of the cross design. The Celtic cross on top of the ring is just over 1/2" wide. The band narrows down to 1/4" on the bottom.

The Claddagh ring is thought to have been designed by Richard Joyce, a Galway native captured by pirates while being transported as a slave to the West Indian plantations and sold to a Moorish goldsmith. In 1689, he was freed and allowed to return to his home in Galway. He set up a small shop in the Town of Claddagh, and crafted this now famous and unique ring.
